Jackson Day 2011 – Tribute to Ned McWherter Pt. 1

October 1, 2011, members of The Tennessee Democrat Party gathered for the “Jackson Day 2011” event. The theme for this year’s event was a tribute to former governor Ned Ray McWherter. This video is more about more how one person can make a difference than politics. I recorded it while sitting in the audience. There were over one thousand attendees at the event and Russ Anthony 411 was there to show you a part of it. Other videos from other Jackson Day 2011 events are coming soon.

Russ Anthony 411 Promo

My latest video is Russ Anthony 411 Promo. This short (59 seconds) video illustrates some the components of social work technology that make make this so rewarding for me.  I have put together a few clips to highlight how social work technology can aid social workers in helping people and making social service agencies stronger. It was also a lot of fun to put together. Perhaps it will also inspire someone to increase their use of technology toward helping others. Feel free to leave a comment and or a suggestion. As always, thank you for visiting RussAnthony411.org!

Jobs Not Cuts Rally – Nashville, TN

Anthony-Denmark Communications uses social work technology to help people in various ways. Producing videos of social events allows others to benefit from viewing activities without being at the location.  The latest Russ Anthony 411 release is “Jobs Not Cuts Rally – Nashville, TN“. It captures protestors, near the office of U.S. Senator Bob Corker, speaking out about the lack of job creation and economic policies. The event took place on August 25, 2011. The video shows protestors chanting and waving signs to the supportive motorists as they passed.  One of chants in this video sums up the position advocated by the demonstrators: “Corker says, ‘cutback’ and we say ‘fight back!'”  Let “Jobs Not Cuts Rally – Nashville, TN” encourage you to do more speak out and stand up for those in need.  Your comments and constructive criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Evolution of Communication – Pt. 6

Computers have come a long since email began. Click here to watch part six of the Evolution of Communication video series from Anthony-Denmark Communications. We often take the communication technology we use today for granted. Besides new products and services are introduced at a rapid pace. Watch as Nicholas Holland, CEO of CentreSource Interactive Agency, slows it down for you in Evolution of Communication. This is a series of short videos that explains how humans have communicated since the beginning of time. In Part Six: “Email”, Nicholas explains how the invention of email was a major shift in the way people learned to communicate. Evolution of Communication – it’s something to talk about.

Street Technology

Social Work Technology is like…

Driver Frank Farris on a city street.

As you can see, RussAnthony411.org is not your typical social work blog. It is social work in the technology fast lane.

This promo gives you an idea of what social workers can do such power on their side. Social issues of this century require that we use modern techniques and tools. Click here to read the blog posts for “Social Work Technology” and feel the power!

Poverty Simulation in Nashville

A poverty simulation exercise was held in Nashville to give volunteer participants a glimpse of  a month in poverty. Russ Anthony 411 was there in the middle of the action to record it all.  For some, it will be a reminder and for others it will be a new prospective. Technology – A Blessing, A Curse with Lowell Perry, Jr.

This is additional footage from Lowell Perry, Jr.’s closing presentation at the TCSW Conference in Franklin, Tennessee on April 6, 2011. Mr. Perry speaks about the advantages and disadvantages of life with cell phones and mobiles devices. He describes us as being tethered to technology. He also offers some insight on the importance of valuing one-on-one communication and to remember that there are times,  “to put the phone down and acknowledge the person in front of us”.
