Country Music Marathon 2013

Opening Marathon Hill

This year, the Country Music Marathon in Nashville, Tennessee took place in a downpour. However, the rain did not stop the over 30,000 runners and thousands of volunteers from going on with the event. Given the recent tragedy with the Boston Marathon, there was also heighten security. Two videos from Anthony-Denmark Communications cover the rain-soaked activities. The first is “Country Music Marathon 2013 ‘Twanging In the Rain'” with a report on the conditions and risks, the runners were taking. The second,  “Country Music Marathon 2013 ‘The Human Spirit'”, shows the physical and emotional toll the pounding rain was having upon the runners. The event was conducted to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

“You are an advocate”, says advocacy veteran Gordon Bonnyman from the Tennessee Justice Center. He speaks to the audience about the qualities needed for being an effective advocate for people and causes. These excerpts are taken from his presentation “The Whys and Wherefores of Advocacy” at the TCSW Middle Region Fall Conference on November 2, 2012. Poker Run – Riders For Homes

Bikers participate in the Poker Run by traveling to arranged locations to pick cards to determine who will have the winning hand at the end. It is all for fun and a good cause as these bikers help to raise money to support services for the homeless in Tennessee. This video captures the first and last stop at Boswell’s Harley-Davidson and at Arrington Vineyards. Watch for short scenes from the concert that followed.  Click here to watch the video online. Champions (Special Olympic Tennessee Summer Games 2012)

Athletes from Special Olympics came from all over Tennessee to compete Saturday May 19, 2012 in the Summer Games 2012. The event took place on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Watch the excitement as the volunteers turn into spectators. Athletes competed for medals and bragging rights. There was so much going on in seven different athletic venues that I had to concentrate in the track and field area. For more on the Special Olympics and how you can get involved, please go to their website at www.specialolympicstn.org. Soon I will post additional photos from the Special Olympics

Tour de Nash 2012 Video

The video Tour de Nash 2012 highlights the largest organized bike ride in Nashville, Tennessee conducted by Walk/Ride Nashville.  Russ Anthony 411 was there to take in the spectacle. Watch the beauty and coordination of Nashville bikers as they begin three separate treks through the streets of Nashville. This year’s ride, (it’s a ride, not a race), included an estimated one thousand riders. This video shows the start of the 62-mile, 32-mile and 8-mile groups as they begin their journeys. Nashville’s mayor Karl Dean is in the front row for the 8-mile family fun ride group. Run For The Homeless 5k – Nashville 2012

Nashville once again shows it’s generous spirit as 500 runners and walkers were cheered on by supporters at the Run For The Homeless 5k. Despite cloudy skies. The video gives a glimpse of the festival atmosphere at the event. Presented by The Key Alliance, this is the second year the race has taken place in downtown Nashville. For official race results, go to www.nashvillestriders.com.

Also, please watch “Dale”, a heart warming interview that tells the story of a man going from living on the street to permanent housing. I was originally going to put a portion of the interview in the original video. However, as I started editing it – I realized that Dale needed more time to tell his story.
